The Rooms

The four rooms located on level 2 accommodate 5-15 guests. Al la carte full service.

Each function room we have for hire has been named after a historically person or place from the history of The Observer Hotel or The Rocks suburb of Sydney.

Mills Lane

Located on Mills Lane reflecting the steam flour-mill of Lawrence Kendall which operated here in the early 1800s.


Frederick Wright Unwin erected the substantial sandstone building in 1845 that survive today as The Observer Hotel.


The Observer Hotel was built on the site of two former hotels – The Observer Tavern and The Waterman’s Arms.


Robert Moore originally ran the hotel in 1848.
